Second blog post : Nature

At first when looking at a large open forest , it looks like any other large forest : tall trees , cricket noises , weeds, and over-all the color green. But when walking on an overgrown nature walk in Florida Gulf Coast University you look hard and long and realize what an amazing ecosystem this forest really is. At least three hundred trees surrounding me as I sit on the dirty ground, Starting from the sky down The tallest tree’s which look like they have pine needles are at lest forty feet-tall which means they must have taken at least fifteen years to grow that tall, the trees are skinny and green vines are trailing up the trees. The second tallest trees are about twenty five feet tall, the tree consists of large bright green bushes which stand out on the contrast of an all dark green background. There are non-native plants growing high above and over this bush plant. It looks as though there is a war in the forest and the non-native plant are winning it’s trying to get any speck on sunlight there is by covering the other plants with a curtain like cover. Palm trees are next they are about eight feet high and have sharp pointy fawns pointing out in every directions they are odd-looking and have yellow pods full of more seeds. Weeds scatter the entire floor of the forest they are different each and everyone of them. There heights, shapes, and colors are all different. There was once a man-made trail here but it’s completely overgrown by weeds…This shows that barely any humans walk this trail. A few monarch butterflies are lazily flying around landing from flower to flower. The sun rays are shinning through the tall pines and casting shadows on the pine-needle covered forest floor. Insects and crickets are loudly communicating to one another but as I walk forward or near them they silence momentarily.

  1. Your post was so descriptive! Especially the way you describe all the different trees, it was very good.
